The USGBC, a nonprofit organization operating under 501(c)(3) status, created the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System. E-Rate Program

The E-Rate program, overseen by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the guidance of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), aims to offer cost-effective high-speed broadband internet and WiFi access to schools and libraries. Through E-Rate funding, K-12 school districts and libraries with limited financial means or weaker tax bases can procure discounted networking hardware and IT services. Eligibility for the program depends on various factors. For example, qualifying school districts may receive discounts ranging from 20 to 90 percent, determined by the proportion of students eligible for free or reduced lunch and whether the district is classified as urban or rural.

What is eligible?

Category One for E-Rate includes data transmission and/or Internet access, while Category Two encompasses telecommunications equipment and services, Internet access, internal connections, managed internal broadband services, and basic maintenance of internal connections. NBCP’s offerings specifically cater to Category Two, facilitating broadband internal connections.
